HOW DOES TIXEL® WORK?
The tip of the device consists of 81 tiny pyramids (9 x 9), which are heated to a temperature of 400°C. As the tip moves, the tops of the pyramids briefly contact the skin, they are not transferred, but only touched. This creates a matrix of separate ablative (superficial ablation) hemispherical coagulation zones (depth up to 250μ, width up to 500μ).
During the procedure, the tip tips are inserted into the skin surface at a precisely controlled speed and create a short contact with the skin, lasting only a few milliseconds. In this way, the thermal energy stored in the tip tips is transferred to the skin. The heat transfer creates numerous small non-ablative coagulation sites. Since the tiny pyramids contain a limited amount of energy at the tips, burns and charring of the tissue are avoided.
WHY IS THE PAIN RELATIVELY LOW WITH TIXEL®?
Compared to ablative CO₂ lasers, Tixel® is less painful due to the relatively lower amount of energy delivered to the skin. This is possible due to the more efficient energy delivery method (conduction vs. radiation) and the longer pulse duration of Tixel (e.g. 10 ms vs. 1 ms) compared to CO₂ lasers.
Research shows that TMA™ ( thermomechanical action technology) creates superficial channels in the stratum corneum (upper epidermis), thereby increasing the absorption of topical skincare products used after the procedure.
